My Story

Growing up, my dad worked an office job and was the primary breadwinner for our family while my mom did home daycare to be able to stay home with us four kids and they'd still be able to make ends meet.

Given the "facts" of dad being the breadwinner with a few mild heart attacks under his belt combined with having a strong family history of heart disease, they did the responsible thing and piled all of the insurance on my dad so if something happened, mom and us kids would be ok -  but life rarely works out how we think it will - and it was absolutely devastating. 

I still remember the shock when the State Trooper knocked on our door to tell us that my mom had been in an auto accident and didn't survive.

I watched my dad handle his grief along with the grief of four teenage kids, a mountain of debt, a  funeral he coldn't afford, and a future without a roadmap - and through it all he was still expected to go to work everyday.

I went into insurance at 20 years old so I could protect families from ever having to go through something like that, and 30+ years later it is still my mission to serve families so even amid life's greatest challenges, you have confidence in the benefits and the planning you have in place.

Michelle Niederer

I started my insurance career at the age of 20 keying insurance claims. In my 30 year journey I have worked for a start up company, a mid-sized and a global insurance company as well as an Administrative Services Only company, then switched gears to working as a captive insurance agent and later as an insurance broker for both union workers and the general public representing over 300 different insurance companies and thousands of plans.

I've held positions managing Specialty Claims, Medicare Secondary Payor, Durable Medical Equipment, Accouting, Mail Room, Correspondence, Call Centers, COBRA, Outsourcing, Electronic Media Claims, Auditing Doctor Offices, Group Benefit Sales, Group Benefit Retention, Medicare, Appeals, and have served on numerous Task Forces, Board of Directors, and have Written Manuals and Designed Benefit Structures, Agent Compensation, Process Improvements, and Hiring and leading teams as both W-2 and 1099 Contract Workers, have been on TV and on stage at national conventions to educate both consumers and insurance agents, and have numerous awards under my belt to celebrate many of these achievements.

This varied career makes me uniquely qualified to share a full prospective on insurance and how it all works, who's in charge, and how to get things done. I've been on both sides of the fence, have worked with every single aspect of insurance and as I get closer to retirement I want to share my hard-won skills and knowledge with you in terms you can understand and that make sense. I envision us sitting down at the kitchen table having a chat - not in a boardroom in crisp suites and doing boring speeches. I think you'll find that although I have a lot of knowledge and experience to share, I'm approaching you as a friend that really wants to help you.

At this stage in my career I can afford to be a little picky in who I work with. Life is too short to fill your day with Negative Nellies or people who just don't fit personality-wise. Right now, I am taking on new clients in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana.

My ideal client is probably busy, values family, and may share interests in cooking, flower gardening, reading, writing, self-improvement and fitness - and you must love dogs (or at least be an animal lover.) Or, you may not have any of those intests and that is fine too. You can be any race, color or religion, rich or poor, young or old, married or single, or any mix of the above. My door is open to anyone who is just trying to be a good human being and trying to make the world a little better or brighter along the way.
